You can’t make this stuff up, folks. In a blatant violation of the Establishment Clause in the United States Constitution, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring 2012 ‘The Year of The Bible,’ and praised the book as the greatest book of the year even though there are still 11 months left until 2013. The resolution declares that the Bible played a major role in the Constitution and the founding of America, even though there is no mention of the Bible, God, Jesus, or Christianity in the Constitution. The resolution goes on to cite the many Presidents who supposedly ‘paid tribute to the influence of the Bible in our country’s development,’ and declares that Americans ‘need to study and apply the teachings of the holy scriptures.’ Here’s the resolution in full:

There are some very sobering quotes from the founding fathers in this article, easy. I'm not sure just why the Pennsylvania House decided to do something like this, especially in January, but obviously they felt compelled to do so. It just serves to prove that the religious right feels it has an ever stronger grip on government. Perhaps there is some kind of continued chipping away of Roe v. Wade coming up for them in the future?

Shelby......That may very well be their end game.

Huge stretch and basically a change of the subject. You do realize a resolution isn't much more than talk, right? It's not a law. This is one of those websites about which you have to be real careful.
It may be empty rhetoric, but it states their contempt for anything but a rabid right religious agenda. I'm sure their base must be thrilled. And such a wonderful (contemptible) waste of time and tax dollars! Whether it is just words and not legislation, it is a beginning - crawling in the car, so to speak. Next, put the key in the ignition....
And of course, there's this little issue that the founding fathers discount practically everything they said in their mindless proclamation.

What you call a little issue is another stretch. My one dollar bill says "In God We Trust". We are a God fearing Christian society. The founding fathers would disagree with you.
“Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.”
~ Thomas Jefferson in an 1814 letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper.
“The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded upon the Christian religion.”- George Washington, as stated in the signed Treaty of Tripoli in 1797.
“In no instance have the churches been guardians of the liberties of the people.”
~James Madison

“I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved — the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced!”
~John Adams
“A Firehouse is more useful than a church.”
~Benjamin Franklin

It's still only a resolution. Governments do it all the time. I suggest you be careful with any topics based in the addicting info website.
Don't worry, I do not support having a mullah from any religion run the country.
